Weekly Status (Mike, Monday December 11, 2000)

Well it's been going slow this week, We have OpenIL integrated into Tachyon and a new web page for the engine with some screenshots for you to look at. We also started work on our hierarchical .3ds model support which will allow application developers to animate .3ds models programmatically or possibly via script. If anyone would like to see a specific feature implemented in Tachyon or just to comment, please leave a message in the Tachyon forum.

Weekly Update (Mike, Saturday December 2, 2000)

Well with the Thanksgiving holiday I missed a few updates, but work on Tachyon didn't stop. We now have billboards, .3ds models now use display lists for speed and skybox support. We will also be using OpenIL for image support in Tachyon. This will allow us to focus on the engine and not image file formats.

Weekly Update (Mike, Sunday November 19, 2000)

You may or may not be able to tell but we have switched our hosting company and certain sections of the site may be inaccessible. Please bear with us. Tachyon is coming along nicely and we have implemented a number of new features this week. We even have the MP3 player functioning. It's not much to look at right now but we will be adding a PlugIn interface fo visual effects while playing your mp3's. That will be the test bed for the Europa PlugIn architecture. I would also like to annouce that we have another developer signed up to work on Tachyon and Europa, welcome Iain. If there are any other developers that would like to join this exciting project, please contact me via email.

Tachyon Update (Mike, Monday November 6, 2000)

We added .3DS file support to the Tachyon engine this week. It loads the geometry, materials and textures (as long as they are .bmp or .jpg). We'll have to support at least .tga files as well, but we will add that later. Rendering speed is not very good, but that should be fixed when we optimize. Another couple of weeks work on Tachyon before we will start the process of restructuring Europa to use the engine. The .3DS file support means that Europa will allow the user to use a model for a shortcut instead of a cube!!

Europa Status Update (Mike, Saturday October 28, 2000)

I wanted to let everyone know what was going on in the Europa devepment effort since I haven't updated the website lately. We are currently putting the finishing touch on our new visualization engine called "Tachyon". When this is completed, Europa will be rewritten using it. This is a very important step for us because Europa will be more object oriented than before and the engine can be enhanced without effecting Europa. I also wanted to annouce that in the next release of Europa we will be including an 3D MP3 player! Stay tuned for more...

Version 0.31 is available!! (Mike, Sunday August 6, 2000)
Europa v0.31 is ready for downloading. This version includes a number of enhancements and new features:
- Navigation is now down with the ALT key + left, right, left+right mouse buttons
- Start Menu replacement is activated via the right mouse button
- Europa wallpaper graphics
- More stable
